Moscow Metro to launch a large transport hub – Tekstilschiki – in 2023

According to the Moscow Department of Transport, a new large transport hub Tekstilschiki will appear in Moscow. It will fully operate in 2023.

The hub will combine two lines of the Moscow Metro (Line 7 and the Big Circle Line), Line 2 of the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) and 23 routes of the surface transport. Moreover, the hub will make rides more convenient for over 100 thousand passengers.

Thanks to the new hub, the Tekstilschiki station (Line 7) will become freer by 20%, and the southern areas of Line 7 and Line 10 will be unloaded by 20% as well.

«On the instructions of the Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to make journeys around the city faster and more convenient. In 2023, one of the largest Tekstilschiki hub will fully operate in the southeast of Moscow. It will include two metro stations and the MCD station. After the Tekstilschiki station is opened, 50 thousand residents of Tekstilschiki and Pechatniki districts will get a new metro station in a walking distance. Thanks to the routes via the Big Circle Line, they will be able to make an interchange to other metro lines faster by saving 20 minutes in average on the trips from their districts. In addition, the Moskvich car plant and the Technopolis special economic zone are located here - employees' commute to work will become more convenient», - said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.

It is specified that the new Big Circle Line (BCL) Tekstilschiki station will be executed in a light gray colors and granite, marble and metal panels will be used in its decoration. The two-level ceiling will visually resemble a loom - a reference to the name of the station (Tekstilschiki refers to textile factories that used to be located in the disctrict).

The BCL is the largest project implemented with the direct involvement of the Moscow Mayor. The circle line will have 31 stations. The full launch of the BCL will simplify the movement of 3.3 million Moscow citizens living in 34 districts. The BCL will be the longest metro circle line in the world. Its length is 70 kilometers, which is 3.5 times longer than the existing Line 5 (the Moscow Metro Circle Line) and a quarter longer than the Beijing circle line (Line 10) - so far the global leader in terms of length.
