In October 2021, the On the Way service – the first mobility-on-demand transport service in Russia – has become available for the residents of the New Moscow. Over the year, 50 convenient buses of the service have transported more than 520 thousand passengers of TiNAO district.
Today the new mobility-on-demand service is available for the residents of 5 districts in the New Moscow: in Sosenskoye, Desenovskoye, Voskresenskoye, Filimonkovskoye and Ryazanovskoye. In total the service now covers more than 220 square kilometres of the New Moscow.
Every day more than thousand passengers use the On the Way service that helps the Moscow citizens to get comfortably to the Prokshino metro station and the Silikatnaya MCD station. The service provides the passengers with 270 bus stops, 90 of them are virtual.
The main advantage of the On the Way service is its fare. The trip costs like one metro ride if passenger pays with a bank card which is several times cheaper than a taxi. It is possible to pay by the bank card, which is connected to the Moscow Transport application. The average waiting time for the bus is 13.5 minutes, and the travel time usually takes 17 minutes.
The bus is equipped with convenient seats, seat belts, USB ports for gadgets, climate control system and TV, tables with a stand for drinks and light bulbs for reading. All the busses have 360-degree cameras, distance monitoring and emergency braking systems.
“In October 2021, on behalf of the Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we have launched the On the Way service – the first mobility on-demand transport service in Russia. The On the Way buses deliver passengers to the metro and MCD stations and back. During the operation of the service, the buses have already transported more than 520 thousand passengers, run more than 4.5 million km without accidents and failures.
By the end of the year, we are going to launch the service in the Skolkovo district. Besides, by the end of 2022 passengers will be given an opportunity to order buses for trips to schools, hospitals, kindergartens, post offices, housing centres. Residents of New Moscow will be able to get to the socially significant objects faster and more convenient,” — said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
Personalized transportation does not depend on a schedule and allows passengers to build flexible routes. The system of the service is quite simple: the user calls the bus through the Moscow Transport application, indicates departure and destination points, and receives a message with coordinates of the nearest place of order.
The arrival of the bus is carried out within half an hour. The number of bus stations was also increased thanks to the extended work area of the service. Moreover, the quantity of virtual stations has been increased as well to make service easier and faster.
